In Greenwood Village, they are closer to a design outcome. The city wrote a building code decades ago that made large finished basements the default way to build a house here, and that same code concentrated exactly the conditions that make radon and aging sewer laterals a recurring, predictable line item at inspection. Understanding why turns two generic-sounding inspection findings into something you can actually plan for, whether you are listing a 1970s split-level or writing an offer on one.

The Math Behind Every Finished Basement

Greenwood Village caps lot coverage at 35 percent of the parcel in most residential zones and limits building height to 35 feet.
